Weekly Update
Epiphany, or Three Kings' Day, on the 6th January marks the end of the 12 days of Christmas which is generally celebrated as when the Magi, also know as the three wise men or kings, visited Jesus to bring gifts. The theme of using our gifts was the topic of Collective Worship last week with visitor Mr England exploring the ‘parable of the talents’. With the new year starting comes the opportunity to set new personal goals for 2024 and to make the most of our gifts to achieve more.
In classes, pupils launched into new projects for the Spring Term. Willow class have been thinking about ‘growing’; acorns into oaks , kittens into cats, babies into children, children into adults - all part of their project ‘Long Ago’. Birch Class have also been going back in time as they start to explore schools of the past. As Geographers in Hazel Class, pupils have began to describe and compare physical features of rivers. Meanwhile in Rowan Class, pupils have been exploring new vocabulary such as ‘maafa’ which is a Swahili word meaning ‘great catastrophe’ that is used to describe the ‘African Holocaust’ and the history and effects of the transatlantic slave trade.
Wishing you all a great week.
Mr Caswell
