Weekly update

It was brilliant to see Class 2 enjoying a trip to the Tutankhamun Museum in Dorchester. I look forward to speaking with them about this experience and seeing it inspire their learning in History.

As our curriculum develops, we have made changes to the maths and spelling programs to ensure a simple and consistent approach with high expectations and support for all our pupils.

Please find updates from out Maths and English Leads:

Maths – We have moved away from using Mental Maths Olympics and are concentrating on daily rapid recall of times tables. We are supported in this by using the Ashley Downs Times Tables Challenge and National Centre for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics (NCETM) Mastering Number resources. Please continue using TT Rockstars and Numbots at home.

Spellings – Once children have completed the Read, Write Inc programme they move onto Spelling Shed. Children will need to align with their year group stage. This means that a year 4 child will be on stage 4 and a year 6 child on stage 6 etc. This may mean a change for some pupils and they will be supported in class to achieve their year group expectations.

If you have any queries please speak to your child’s class teacher at the upcoming parents’ evening.

Have a great week!
