Weekly update
The team that took part in the football tournament at Bucklers Mead last Tuesday faced some strong and well organised opposition. The players showed improvement throughout the tournament and, whilst a win eluded them, they demonstrated grit, determination and teamwork showing the potential for their next game which is coming up against Millfield on Tuesday 16th March.
Shortly after its arrival on Wednesday, in a surprise and seemingly localised weather event, the heavy snow covered the school in a white blanket. Thank you to pupils, staff and parents for responding calmly to get everybody home safely and back into school the next day.
The Chinese New Year of the Rabbit begins this week and was the topic of assembly on Friday. We aspire for all pupils to increase their understanding and respect different traditions and cultures around the world.
Please remember that as parents and carers you play a key role in helping your child to stay safe online. You don’t need to be an expert on the internet. For instance, parental controls are a helpful tool, but an open conversation with your child is the most important thing.
Finally, a reminder that chess club is on Tuesday lunchtime. Pupils that have attended enjoy it and there is space for more pupils to go along on the day (no need to sign up). To get the most out of the club and maximise playing time, pupils need to be organised in eating their lunch beforehand and helping set up the boards.
Happy Chinese New Year!
