West Chinnock Parent Update

This week:

· Welcome back

· Curriculum Overviews

· School Development Priorities

· Diverse Britain

· New language rich, book-based writing units

Happy New Year to all our pupils, parents and staff! I hope you had a restful holiday and are ready for an exciting term ahead. The children have returned to school well rested and are eager to learn. We give a warm West Chinnock welcome to new pupils and their parents joining our school community.

Please keep an eye out today for an email which contains the curriculum overview for your child’s class. This simply outlines the key learning that your child will encounter this term.

Please also see the attached overview of our School Development Priorities, which highlights the school’s four strategic goals for the year. Each term we welcome in our ADE (Assistant Director of Education) from the Trust who monitors, reviews and supports our work on these goals.

You will see from the class overviews that we will be following a unit of work called Diverse Britain.  Pupils will explore and celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures, histories and contributions that make up our society.

Finally, we are excited to be introducing new writing units this term inspired by language-rich texts (such as The Midnight Panther, pictured).

Wishing you all a good week.  Mr Caswell
